Friday random bits

In lieu of one huge juicy piece of news, we thought this Friday would be the perfect time for some random noteworthy nuggets of information.

-During their set at the Do Division Festival in Chicago, Ted Leo and The Pharmacists broke out a cover of Touch & Go/Quarterstick labelmates the Mekons and their song “Teeth.” The rousing interpretation elicited quite an enthusiastic crowd response, and the video is a definitely worth checking out. Thanks to You Ain’t No Picasso for providing the post.

Ted Leo and The Pharmacists played their first of nine tour dates opening for Pearl Jam last night. All remaining dates can be found here.

-The Uglysuit just finished a tour leg with Iron & Wine and are now preparing for their forthcoming self-titled album release on 8/19. The song “Chicago” is currently being featured as Insound’s Recommended Track of the Week and you can preorder the album at Insound right here.

-The New Year, in the form of the Kadane Brothers, will be playing some shows starting next Thursday at Emo’s in Austin, TX. The rest of their tour dates can be found here.

-Dead Child is going on their fifth consecutive week on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball with the video for "Sweet Chariot", and we couldn’t be more thrilled! The Ball airs on Saturday nights from 11 PM until 1 AM, EST.

-This weekend, Polvo will be gettin’ down at sold-out shows in Cambridge, MA (tonight @ Middle East), New York (tomorrow at Bowery Ballroom), and Hoboken, NJ (Sunday @ Maxwell’s). This is an old clip, but they’ll probably look and sound something like this.
