Cash Audio

Cash Audio were a Chicago guitar-and-drums blues duo. In 1994 guitarist John Humphrey recruited Scott Giampino to play drums in the Late Great Danes, but after the band went on permanent hiatus, Cash Audio, or rather, Cash Money, was born. The band’s first two full lengths went under the name Cash Money, until Master P and his nefarious cohorts at Cash Money Records caught wind of the name through, of all places, Rolling Stone Magazine, and threatened to sue. Such is the way of the world, and Cash Audio was born for the third full length.

Besides a blistering tight live set, the band’s shows were also memorable for the nightly cooking of bacon behind Scott’s drum throne. Playing gritty Mississippi blues combined with the rock ‘n’ roll incense of crispy pig always provided a bit of perspective for the band’s audiences, occasionally offending vegetarians and queasy west coast clubs.
