Virgin Prunes

Before coming to Touch and Go in 1986, the Virgin Prunes of Dublin, Ireland had been a majoratively quirky, gothic tinged performance art band. Formed in 1977, and led by Gavin Friday, the Prunes had a largely cult following throughout their ten-year career. Guggi (vocals), Dave-id (vocals also), Strongman (bass), Pod, and Dik (guitar) made up the rest of the band. Their only non-pseudeonymed member, Mary D’Nellon, began as drummer in 1982 after Pod left. The Prunes released their only full length for Touch and Go in 1986, a more melodic and ballad oriented work, entitled The Moon Looked Down and Laughed.
