Kepone

Named after a lethal pesticide manufactured in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia, Kepone (pronounced Kee-pone), were a heavy three-piece that recorded from 1994-1997. Fronted by a former childhood preacher who subsequently played bass for Gwar, Kepone also featured players from DC’s Holy Rollers, Eek-A-Mouse, Hoi Polloi, Burma Jam, and Honor Roll. Although frequently compared to the Minutemen and tour-mates, The Jesus Lizard, the band was equally influenced by the Appalachian spirituals that surrounded them while they were growing up. Additionally, reggae, bluegrass, and ZZ Top were among the varied influences that informed this power trio throughout all three of their full-lengths.
