Phono-Comb
Don Pyle and Reid Diamond of Shadowy Men On a Shadowy Planet played with Jad Fair while he was in Toronto promoting a movie about his band Half Japanese. From there, Dallas Good and Beverly Breckenridge were brought in to fill out the backing band for Jad’s new record and tour. After that, the members minus Jad formed Phono-Comb.
After a debut 7”, the band recorded their first and only album on Quarterstick, Fresh Gasoline, in 1996. ‘Sixteen instrumentals and a nostalgia play conspire to make an atmosphere collection of tonal colorations from sickly green to turgid grey.’
