CocoRosie Tour the Coast of California

In the wake of the news of their upcoming single We Are On Fire, CocoRosie have announced new US dates on the Californian coast.
Another reason to move to the West Coast, I guess... or start planning a summer vacation. Do I hear road trip?

Calexico's Road Atlas Box Deconstructed

In November of 2011, Quarterstick Records released the limited edition box set—
Road Atlas 1998-2011, a collection of Calexico’s 8 self-released tour albums in vinyl format for the first time ever (previously only available at Calexico’s live concerts as CDs). The box set also included a 40 page book of photos and notes as well as never before released bonus tracks encased in a screen printed slip case. As described by journalist Fred Mills , “you hold what the members of Calexico describe as their Road Atlas, and as a kind of alternate musical history of the band, it makes for quite a trip.” Limited to 1,100 copies worldwide, the
Road Atlas 1998-2011 box set sold out instantly and sent fans searching the internet and local record shops in hopes of acquiring a copy of their own.

Now, in response to such HIGH fan demand, Quarterstick is happy to announce the release of each of the 8 individual tour albums on May 22,2012. Each album includes a coupon for a MP3 download of the album and comes packaged in the same full color cover art and color inner sleeves as those in the box set.

CocoRosie Are On Fire!

Just in time for summer, and well worth the wait! So listen up, it's official announcement time again. CocoRosie will release 2 new songs via 7" vinyl and digital format on June 5th, 2012.

Recorded this past winter in LA with Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio) and early in spring of 2012 at the band's home studio in Brooklyn with Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons), this single is what we would call a double A-side single. Side A "We Are On Fire" may have won the toss up for the title track, but that doesn't imply the B-side "Tearz For Animals" (featuring the vocal stylings of Antony Hegarty) is any less fantastic! Two perfect additions to the your soundtrack to summer!

The cover image (above) also marks the first artistic collaboration between visual artist Jesse Hazelip and Bianca, a joint effort also known as Twin Rivers. The art image for "Tearz For Animals" is a result from a prison exchange project - "drawings from the inside, between friends, as a means of hope."

But that's not all! CocoRosie are also working with the talented Emma Freeman on a forthcoming video for "We Are On Fire". Emma also directed the videos for "Lemonade" and "Gallows" from the band's last album Grey Oceans. Check it out HERE for a peak of what visual creativity you can expect from this artistic combination.
